Frazer: First of all, people love spending money on their houses. Garages used to be an afterthought, and now it’s becoming increasingly more common to upgrade a garage just as you would any other room in your house. Frazer: Garage King’s business itself is really simple. You have two two technicians go into a house and finish a garage floor coating from start to finish, with prep, repairs, and coatings. Instead of a 3-day process, the whole thing is done inside of a day for a typical job. It’s not a complicated sell, so you can move fairly quickly on that front. The magic is in who you are and what you bring to the brand. We’re surrounded by a bunch of amazing people. A huge part of our culture is that we want to help our operators laser in on what helps them win. Simple is what we strive for — it’s hard work, but it’s repeatable work, and this allows our franchisees to build a book of business and focus on growth.

What do you think has helped Garage Kings to grow as quickly as it has?

Frazer: We don’t stop. We take feedback from our operators on what’s going to help them be more successful in their business and what’s going to make it easier for them to focus on the things that help them win. Our team is working non-stop to help bring that to them so they can focus on doing the things they do best, like selling and doing floors.

What kind of support does Garage Kings offer to franchisees?

Frazer: We’ve got full-time graphic designers on staff who can help with ads and whatever local marketing campaigns you want to run, we have people who can talk about marketing strategy to help with what you should do during different phases of your business to really help you structure that for your own market and goals. We have digital web marketing — all that stuff is done by our team and some of that stuff can be quite complex, but we want to take the complexity away from your business so that you can focus on the simple execution of running and growing a business that you love. We also have account managers who will talk to you on a regular basis, to help you understand where you need help and how we can support you. We’ve built a team that can execute digital marketing strategies. This is Google and search engine optimization and all the fancy buzzwords that help get people’s attention online and we do that nationally for each location. We have a 24/7 call center that will take calls so that while you’re out selling and getting projects done, so you’re not missing sales opportunities because you didn’t answer a phone call. All of this is happening on the back end so you can focus on selling and doing projects and and really growing your local reputation.

Who is the ideal franchisee for Garage Kings?

Frazer: Somebody who really cares about quality and customers and isn’t afraid to sell. Obviously there’s a lot of selling that can happen in this and you can hire people to do that with you, but you really need to be able to talk to people, sell, and care about the customer experience. This is about so much more than putting coatings on the floor. This is about the customer experience from, “I’ve never heard of Garage Kings,” to “Yes, I want it,” to “I got a quote,” to “I got the job scheduled, to “I love it.”
